HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Ok, so we’re 7 whole days into a brand new year… By now most folks have set their goals, made their resolutions, fallen off a few wagons, and hopped back on again. The dawn of a new year is always a blast, isn’t it?
Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. – 1 Peter 1:13 NASB
This verse of biblical scripture was the springboard for this Sunday morning’s message at church. Within an hour the attentive congregation was challenged to:
1. Stop playing the victim
2. Stop complaining
2. Stop waiting for things to happen and make them happen
Hmmm…O.K! Good way to start off the new year, right?
As I sat listening, a list of things on which I need to take action began scrolling through my thoughts. Of course, I do understand that
Many plans are in a man’s (or woman’s) heart, but the counsel of the Lord will stand. – Proverbs 19:21
But I also understand this verse doesn’t mean that we should just sit back and not plan, not take action, not move at all. If there are things we dream of doing, we have to at least do our part and get busy. We need to set goals and begin moving on them, allowing the Spirit of the Lord to guide our footsteps, according to His perfect will.
Simple enough, right? Let’s hope so. So I’m sharing so you can let this be your New Years challenge, as well. If you haven’t done so already get moving. It’s time to take action.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Hello, my friend, and happy new year! I love this message. My husband and I write a list of goals at the start of each year. It helps us to stay focused as a couple, allows us to dream a little, and it’s good for a laugh (or cry!) the following January when we discover which previous goals we accomplished and which fell short. We’re trying to get better at scheduling a mid-year check…so that those goals stay on our minds and our agendas. It’s always interesting to see which goals God detoured by the end of the year!
