With only 40 days left on the road to the altar, I thought I’d take a moment to share a bit of what’s on my mind today.
My fiancé and I started a five day bible reading plan on the topic of marriage using our trusty YouVersion bible apps. The following verses were part of yesterday’s reading.
1 Peter 3:1-4 NASB ~ “In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives, 2 as they observe your chaste and respectful behavior. 3 Your adornment must not be merely external—braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; 4 but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.”
This morning, before I rolled out of bed I rolled over and read the verses again. I penned them in my journal then proceeded to begin my day. The words I highlighted with red text struck me most.
Throughout the day I’ve been thinking about what it means and looks like to have that “imperishable quality of a gental and quiet spirit.” Imperishable…. Umph… I just LOVE the word choice there. These verses confirm what I’ve always believed to be true – a woman’s strength and influence lies heavily in her actions and not solely in her words or in her wardrobe.
So the wedding roller coaster steams ahead frantically toward the “big day.” But those words above… Well, those are words for the “big days after.” And whereas we (my fiance and I) are quite excited about our date at the altar, we are far more excited about the journey that lies in the days and years after.
40 Days left… Wow!
It’s interesting what words stood out to you in the scripture. I was thinking, “if I were to do the same exercise, would my choices be the same?” I think not.
I’m convinced what stood out to you, is based on your life and current relationship experiences. I won’t tell you what parts stood out to me on this public forum, but I thought it was neat to do that exercise. Lol
It’s great that ya’ll are looking more towards the future than the “day.” You’re such a great example to me (whether you agree or not! Lol).
Cuz you KNOW I NEVER agree! LOL… But I’m blessed to know the Lord continues to use me somehow in your life. So will you tell me what words stood out to you “off the record?” LOL…:-) I’m always so happy to see a comment from you. My road to the altar has certainly been an all-terrain type of journey. I’m very thankful, though. I just hope the Holy Spirit will teach me how to walk out during my marriage out all that I see in His word prior to saying “I do.” That’s where it will really count, right?! Thank you for supporting me, Kandis. I love you, sis.
