I’ve been napping today. I know I’m late with this post, and yes I know I missed M altogether. I made a conscious decision to do so. I was tired, and sometimes you just have to know when you can’t go any further. I just got back from vacation a couple of days ago, and very often one tends to need a vacation after the vacation. Well, needless to say I didn’t get one of those “after-cations”. Last night, I just decided to chill. I made an executive decision to give my brain cells a break. They thanked me for it, too. 🙂
I know this post should revel in something that magnifies the letter N. Trust me, I’ll get there, but as the brain cells are re-awakening (literally, I just woke up from a nap), it may take me a minute travel to my N destination. But we will arrive there shortly, so hang in there, please.
I’ve had many N thoughts throughout the day, but instead of running the risk of rambling (too bad it’s not “R” day, lol) I decided to aim at one target. I hope that’s cool with you! By the way, I decided not to even name this post until I’m finished or until a proper name is whispered in my ear. So far, that hasn’t happened yet, so I’m going with the flow today.
And we’re flowing….
What’s in a name? To highlight yesterday’s letter M, I started to re-publish a post from almost a year ago entitled “Who Am I?“. As you may guess, the post was sharing a bit about myself. Since my name begins with M, that seemed pretty simple. I’m not really sure why I decided against it. Well, maybe I am. I am SO NOT GOOD at talking about myself a lot. I told my sweet man friend this, and he was surprised. He feels like I do a pretty good job of sharing here in my little blog home. I GREATLY appreciate his encouragement, especially since transparency is a technique that I’m still learning. 🙂
But I digress….
Back to the name thing… oh yes, thinking about my potential M post for yesterday led me to thinking about names today. “Name” would be the operative N word here, just in case you’re wondering. So much meaning often lies quietly behind a name. Just like most words, names, also, have meanings. For example, my name has been given two possible meanings – “solitary”, the definition of the Greek word “monos” and “advisor” from the Latin word “moneo”. Trust me when I tell you that both these meanings find rest in their own little corner of my overall personality.
Names shape things. They define things, breathing life into them and shaping personality. I’ve always loved my name and simply couldn’t imagine having a different one. With that thought tattooed on my brain I am preparing to make some changes to this little blog space of mine. The changes will include the name. As much as I adore my current blog name (and I certainly want to figure out how to immortalize it), I have prayed for a name that is simple, easy to remember, and universally defines both who I am striving to be and who I believe God wants all of His daughters to strive to become. The new name will define the personality of this blog and prayerfully will become a theme for the women who stop by for a visit.
Now this is funny…. You are SOOOO NOT going to like this! At this very moment, as I’m typing these words I’m not quite sure I’m ready to unveil the new name for my blog space. I know your jaws are dropping and you are squealing, “WHAT????” LOL…. Yep….I can’t explain it, but I think I’m going to try my hand at suspense. However, I will share this. Work on our new space should begin next week, and I can’t wait. I will certainly keep you posted, and maybe I’ll somehow squeeze the name into a future post during this challenge. Maybe…. We’ll see. 🙂
For now, think about your name. What does it mean? Does it fit you? Are you seeing the meaning play out in your life? There’s really SO MUCH in a name. I’d love to hear more about yours. Until next time…
Wise, Virtuous, Valuable,
Hey Sis! This is interesting time. You know I love names and meanings. We were just talking about names on the way to STL on Friday. I was tell the hubby that I could NOT imagine his name being anything else at all. It really fits him. He also responded that he could only see me called by my name. I too LOVE my name (the folks did good huh? :-)). It means Warrior and Brave and like you both of those meanings definitely have their place in my personality. I’m a firm believer that you definitely take on the characteristics of your name. We probably should use the meanings from time to time when referring to people. It would really start to change how we view ourselves. And maybe open some eyes on how powerful a name really is.
I love what you said about how we should probably use meanings from time to time when referring to people. Of course that wouldn’t work for all names, but for some that would be great! It’s amazing how our names can means something positive about us that we still really don’t believe about ourselves. Now that’s interesting! Thank you for stopping by, sis!
