Please forgive the tardiness of today’s K post. It’s not that I think less of the letter K or that K is of less noble stature than its other 25 companions. No, it’s certainly neither of those things. I will admit to quite a challenge with this sweet letter, though. Oh I guess I could have written about kisses or kindness for today’s A to Z post, but neither of those made my fingers do the walking.
It seems I thought about K all night, though, kicking ideas around in my head at intermittent moments between consciousness and unconsciousness. This morning, as I prepared for a long day of travel from one northern corner of the country to the opposite southern corner, I whispered a simple question in my head, “Lord, what shall I say that concerns the letter K? I heard only one word in my head, and I was determined that my jet lagged, travel weary body should not reap the reward of sweet slumber before delivering this post to you. This key, K word is found in one of my favorites passages of biblical scripture. These verses have brought me so much peace on so many occasions, and I pray they will be more timely than I can imagine for you, as well.
25 “For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
26 “Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?
27 “And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?
28 “And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin,
29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.
30″But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!
31 “Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’
32 “For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
33 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. – Matthew 6:25 – 33 NASB
Wise, Virtuous, Valuable,
Excellent choice of K-word! 🙂 See you around!
Glad you stopped by Misha!
That is a beautiful passage from the bible, and one that came into my mind as I wrote my post for G! 🙂
This is truly one of my favorite passages of scripture! I’ll have to hop over to your place and check out your “G” post. Thanks for stopping by, Alison, and I hope you’ll come back!
