Last spring, I confessed my extreme shortcoming and desperate need to learn to be focused. How am I doing these days? Let’s just say I’m a serious work in progress but very thankful for the progress. For example, there are only two browser windows open on my laptop at this very moment. Trust me. That’s progress.
Our world is filled with distractions. Computers, smart phones and tablets keep us perpetually connected to the rest of the world. From one app to the other, one social media site to the other… Our attention is spread out over a million things, often rendering us unable to focus and give our best attention to one or two important things.
So today seemed as good a day as any to remind me and to remind you to be focused. If you’re anything like me there’s a lot on your plate, including some really important things you want to accomplish. Yet, without the ability to focus, the road to reaching any goal may prove to be quite long and a bit daunting. Just think about it.
See you next week.
Hi Monica! Thanks for your post, I always struggle with being focused…like you said, there are just so many distractions. This week is going to be even more crazy then usual so thank you for this important reminder. Also, you would be proud to know that last night at my roommate meeting I was honest about how I’ve been feeling, and it went so well! Thanks again 🙂
Courtney, I get so giddy each time I hear from you. And I am just lovin’ the way you’re putting feet on these posts and taking steps to be a stronger more authentic YOU! Feels good, doesn’t it? I’m glad your roomy (ies) was/were receptive and your conversation went well. Honesty is always best, no matter the outcome. 🙂
Monica, I feel the same way when I hear from you! You are such a wonderful person and role model for me. And yes, it feels great. Thanks for your encouragement 🙂
Well you’re encouraging me just as much and probably more than you know, so thank you Courtney!
I’m learning that making a daily to-do list does wonders for keeping focused. I love checking things off, and it helps me track progress and keep moving things forward.
I’m with you, Sonia. I love checking things off a to-do list, too. Lists certainly do help with keeping me focused. Now if I could just consistently keep one. 😉 I see progress, though.
This was for me…
Girl, join the club. We’ll keep encouraging each other. 🙂
