I woke up this morning with one main thought on my mind. These days, I have several things on my mind, of course, but this one thought stood out. That’s probably because the same thought has been on my heels, following me around like a lost puppy for WEEKS! Have I ever told you that sometimes I wake up with a song playing in my head? It’s true. Could be any kind of song, too. One morning I woke up with the Bee Gees playing in my head. I don’t know WHERE it came from (other than the fact I LOVE the Bee Gees), but folks on my Facebook page seemed to get a kick out of it. I think it was the song “Night Fever” or something like that….Maybe I had a fever that night…
Ahem!! I’m sorry. Where was I? (Forgive me, I’m up writing early this morning. My fingers are moving, but my brain is trying to catch up.)
Oh yes, I was about to share with you what was on my mind when I awakened this morning. This tip, suggestion, piece of advice, or however you want to label it has actually been with me since I read the words in a blog post written by Seth Godin and published back in mid-December 2011. The post was simply titled, “Assorted Tips, Hope they Help.” I decided to print the post, highlight the “tips” I like and hang it at my desk for frequent viewing. (By the way, if you’d like to read Seth’s list of 12 tips, which are indeed assorted, click on the post title in the sentence above or click here.)
“Seek out habits that help you overcome fear or inertia. Destroy those that do the opposite.” – Seth Godin
That’s it! That’s what got me. Those are the words that were running like a scrolling marquee through my brain as soon as my eyes popped open this morning. Sounds simple enough, right? That’s what I thought, too. I, also, thought it was darn good advice. But the more I began to chew on the words the more I began to really analyze what type of habits I could “seek out”, that means I’m actively looking for habits, things to do, ways to overcome fear or inertia. Oh, here are a few definitions and synonyms I found for the word “inertia”:
INERTIA
So if it makes a difference in my world, I had to share it with you. 🙂 Now:
What are some habits or things you can do to help you overcome fear in any area of your life? What are some habits you need to destroy?
What a powerful quote Monica. I am trying to focus on changing my thoughts this year. Therefore I can speak more in alignment with God’s Word.
