Ok, so I’m currently living with one of my sisters and her hubby. My sis and her husband have a dog, a Boston Terrier named Tux (because his coloring makes him look like he’s wearing a black tuxedo w/ a white bow tie! LOL!). Tux is a very special little man, and I use the word “man”, because we all agree that he’s really a human being trapped in a dog’s body. If you saw the way he often pouts with his lower lip poked out or some of his cut throat facial expressions when you tell him something he “disagrees with,” you’d concur. It’s hilarious!
I love Tux! I really do! He’s really cute and just so doggone (no pun intended) human-like; it’s amazing! So, on rare occasion, when Marcia and Ezra haven’t made it home yet (really rare occasion), I have had to take Tux out to go potty. Now anyone who knows me has quite possibly heard me make the statement that I am too cute to pick up doggy POOP! LOL! I mean really! Just something about it… LOVE dogs! HATE doggy POOP! LOL! It’s like, I don’t pick up my own poop; why would I want to pick up an animal’s poop??? (Ok, bring it back, Monica; you’re wandering away from the station. 🙂 ) As you can see even the mere thought steers me onto a different path. So back to me and taking the little pooch for a potty break. I remember the first time I had to take Tux out to potty. Marcie said, he might have to “boo”. “Ok, no problem,” I thought. “I can do this! I can pick up poop. It’s just once. I’ll be ok.” So we get outside, he walks around a little bit, watering every tree and bush he can find, but no poop. So we walk some more, and some more, and a little more. Then he begins “acting a monkey” (as Marcie says; what is that really, sis? LOL). With this I sensed he was done and it was time to go back inside.
I was SO EXCITED, people!!! I can’t remember if I called or sent a text to my sis, but I had to brag that I did not have to pick up any poop! I said, “God loves me, because He knows His daughter does not like to pick up poop and He didn’t make her do it.” It was truly just a little joke at the time. Yet at the same time, oddly enough, I really did sense a display of God’s love toward me in the midst of this tiny little, silly little idiosyncrasy that I have. And do you know that, so far, each time I’ve walked Tux he’s NEVER POOPED on my watch!!! EVER!!! I’m not kidding! Not once. Now quite possibly one day he will, and like the good “auntie” and even better sister 🙂 that I am, I’ll pick up the poop (kicking, screaming, and squirming I’m sure). But no one will ever tell me that’s not a love story from the heavens written just for me.
I”m still waiting for your love stories. I have received a few and a few promises for more. Please send this post around to your girlfriends so they have another idea of the rainbow of ways we can look for and EXPECT to see God’s love displayed toward us. Just click on the “leave a comment” link directly below this post. This design template makes the link a bit small, so you may have overlooked it before. The goal is to collect 52 love stories. Can’t wait to read yours!
I thought this story was too funny – though I had heard it before, it was cute to read again and it is SOO very true – especially about Tux. But we always tend to think that God will only show love in some Miraculous way – “making a way out of no way”. But sometimes God just give us what we want JUST BECAUSE we are his children. The bible says even our earthly fathers who love us imperfectly give good gifts – how much MORE does God our heavenly father give to us – Matthew 7:7-11
We loved HOT/FIRE BALLS as a children. Every time my dad came home from the credit union we had our hands out 🙂 And guess what – everytime he came home from the bank he had a HANDFUL of fireballs for us. Sometimes even when we didn’t expect it – just because! That is because he loved us and he knew that we LOVED Fireballs. Now my father loves us immensely but also imperfectly – incomparable to how God loves us. But back to Matthew 7, God says “You thought Fireballs were good.. just imagine the good gifts I am going to give! WOW…
YAY!!!! That was a great analogy! I forgot all about the fireballs! As the unidentified man in the back of the church used to shout in the middle of the sermon, “GOOD STUFF BABY! GOOD STUFF!” LOL!
Hey Monica
What a wonderful idea to have people send in their love stories. I have been wracking my brain…so sad to say…to come up with something really good. But then God said, “As much as I have done for you, you can’t think of ONE”. Ok Lord…so here it goes (I told Marcia this already).
A week or so ago the Nashville Gas guy came by to cut on our gas for the winter. After checking it, he told me to put the thermostat on 80 and let it run for awhile. I did as instructed, but the heat never kicked on. He said that since we don’t have a pilot to light it must be something wrong with the automatic ignition. I told him we get it serviced twice a year and never had a problem in the past. Anywho, he said I’ll need to call a service person to check it if it still doesn’t kick on.
Ok, so immediately dollar signs start flashing before my eyes. I go back in the house and wait for another hour. Still to no avail, NOTHING! In frustration, I go outside and give the unit a swift kick, as if that was gonna help anything. Then the Lord just told me to ASK HIM. I laid my hands on that thing and began to pray like it wasn’t anybodys business. “Lord you know our bank account balance, you know how much daycare costs, and I ask you to fix this thing right now. In the name of Jesus.” Honey, I went back in a turned the heat on fan just to see if something would happen. The fan came on immediately. I said ok Lord the true test is when I click it to auto. I switched to auto and dropped the thermostat down to 50. The system switched off. I turned the thermostat back to 80 and it kicked on again. THANK YOU LORD FOR LOVING ME!!!!!
Hi!
This is the best idea! Thanks, Monica. 🙂
I lived in Atlanta for a few years and I will say, I haven’t ever been so broke in my life…I didn’t spend a lot, just more bills than money/salary. lol
During this time, I was growing in my relationship with the Lord. I loved my church but had not tithed due to my financial circumstances. One Sunday, I knew funds were low but told the Lord I would trust Him anyway. Not looking for anything, just knowing I would be OK.
A few days later, I got my mail and I had a card from a good friend. I was surprised because there was no special occasion.
I opened the card and was so touched because she was thanking me for a favor that I’d gladly done for her. I didn’t see it as that, she was my friend and I was glad to help.
She had put money in the card and it fell out. It was 40 dollars and I was in such shock. I started crying and thanking the Lord. I called my mother and she started crying and thanking the Lord too..lol
It was a life changing moment about kindness and faith.
God has done so much for me and that is just one example. Trusting in the Lord goes a long way, finances are good but it goes way beyond that. 🙂
